Why Participate in Student Government?
Joining the student government at DVC can enrich your educational experience and provide advantages that extend beyond campus grounds. You'll forge meaningful connections with fellow students, faculty members and administrators that can open doors to internships, job opportunities and friendships.
With opportunities to explore diverse roles within the student government, ranging from event planning and budget management to public relations and community outreach, you will develop invaluable leadership skills, including decision-making, teamwork and effective communication.

ASDVC (Student Senate) officers are elected by the student body each year in April for the following year. Senators are the other students who form the ASDVC Senate.
Students can join ASDVC as senators the first two weeks of each term or can petition by attending 3 consecutive meetings and being voted in by the Senate.
Are you interested in becoming an ASDVC officer or senator? Attend a one-hour information session or a general meeting.
Information Sessions
Information sessions are available the first two weeks of the fall and spring terms on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. in Student Union conference room 204.
General Meetings
General meetings are Tuesdays, 2.10 p.m. - 4 p.m.
To become an ASDVC Senator, announce your interest in joining ASDVC as a Senator during public forum, then attend two more consecutive meetings and the general senate will vote on your petition to become a senator.
