Apply for Financial Aid

College can be truly affordable at DVC! To find out if you qualify for free tuition and other programs, you'll need to submit a financial aid application. To determine which application is right for you, review the descriptions below.

FAFSA Application

If you are a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to see if you qualify for need-based aid such as grants, work-study or loans.

  • To apply, complete and submit your FAFSA online. DVC FAFSA federal school code: 001191
  • The information on your FAFSA will be used to determine your eligibility for both federal and state financial aid.
  • If you are interested in work-study, be sure to indicate "yes" on the FAFSA to be considered for the program.
  • The FAFSA is generally available beginning October 1 each year for the upcoming academic year; however, this year the FAFSA is expected to be available December 1.
  • Community college students are highly encouraged to submit their FAFSA before the September 2 priority deadline date.
  • To be eligible for federal student aid, you must also meet general student eligibility requirements.

California Dream Act Application

If you are an undocumented student who qualifies for AB540 status, you should complete the California Dream Act Application (CADAA) to see if you are eligible for need-based state grants.

  • To apply, complete and submit your CADAA online. DVC CADAA school code: 00119100
  • The information on your California Dream Act Application will be used to determine your eligibility for state funded financial aid.
  • Undocumented students are not eligible for federally funded financial aid.
  • The California Dream Act is available beginning October 1 each year for the upcoming academic year.
  • Undocumented students who wish to apply for the Cal Grant must submit their CADAA by March 2 every year.

Scholarship Applications

Scholarships offer additional opportunities to cover college costs. Students can apply for DVC scholarships as well as external scholarship opportunities.

  • To apply for DVC scholarships, you'll need to complete the DVC Online Scholarship Application during the application filing period.
  • You can also apply for external scholarship opportunities. Each external scholarship will have its own requirements, deadlines and application.
