After You Apply for Financial Aid

Wondering what to do after you submit your financial aid application? Learn more by reviewing the steps below!

After you submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application (CADAA), it's important to check the status of your financial aid award. If you have followed the steps below and still have questions, contact our office during regular business hours so we can help you.

  • Within one week of submitting your application online for the current academic year (2024-2025), the DVC Financial Aid Office will send a follow-up email to your InSite account with more information or instructions. Note that due to the delayed release of the 2024-2025 FAFSA and CADAA, the Financial Aid Office began processing applications during summer 2024.     • If you do not receive an email, you can contact our office to check the status of your application. 
    • Make sure you list DVC's federal school code (001191) first on your FAFSA or the CA Dream Act school code on your CADAA (00119100) to ensure your application is received and processed by the college.

    You may be required to complete and submit additional forms or documents to the Financial Aid Office. To find out, log into InSite, select the financial aid icon, and select financial aid home.

    • Submission of additional information or documents may be required so our office can confirm the information on your FAFSA or CADAA is correct. 
    • Financial aid staff will review the information you reported on the FAFSA or CADAA and compare it with the information/documents submitted and correct any errors found on your application.
    • You can complete the verification process by accessing links available from your InSite checklist.

  • Students are required to submit all documents electronically using links to online forms that can be accessed from the financial aid tile on InSite.

    Some documents can also be submitted the following ways:

    • Scan and upload your documents using the Document Uploader.
    • Visit the Financial Aid Office during in-person hours
    • Fax your documents to (925) 691-1132
    • Mail your documents to Diablo Valley College Financial Aid Office, 321 Golf Club Road, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523.

    Note: 

    • Documents submitted via email are not accepted. 
    • The Financial Aid Office reserves the right to request resubmission of documents and identification should the documents not be clear or legible.

  • Diablo Valley College delivers your refund with BankMobile Disbursements, a technology solution powered by BMTX, Inc. Here's what you need to do:

    1. Select the financial aid tile after logging into InSite
    2. Select "My FA Disbursements"
    3. Select "BankMobile - First time Setup"

    To select your refund preference or learn more about BankMobile Disbursements, visit Your Financial Aid Disbursement Options. Only students who are enrolled and have completed the FAFSA or CADAA will be able to select a refund preference.

  • You will receive a financial aid award offer email in your InSite account about 2-4 weeks after your drop-in meeting at the Financial Aid Office. The award letter will posted to your InSite account and list the type and amount of financial aid (grants, scholarships, work study, and/or loans) you qualify to receive. Please review the 2024-2025 Financial Aid Disbursement Calendar to learn the dates that financial aid will be disbursed and timelines for delivery based on the funding option you select.

All financial aid students are required to check their DVC student email account through InSite on a regular basis in order to receive notifications, file status updates, announcements, and further instructions from the Financial Aid Office.
