How to Prepare for Transfer Days and Earn Extra Credit
-
1. Review the list of universities planning to attend each campus' Transfer Day.
2. Decide which of the attending universities interest you, and make a list of the campuses you would like to speak with so you have a plan.
- Make sure to budget time for each university rep, and to allow extra time for the “popular” schools.
- Broaden your horizons and approach and talk to schools you’ve never thought about. You never know if it ends up being “the one” school you’ve been looking for!
- With private schools, ask if they have need-based or merit-based scholarships. They might end up being more affordable than you think.
3. Write down the specific questions you want to ask in advance and bring that list with you so you can make the best use of your time and the representatives' time.
4. Bring a notepad and pencil or pen to write down the answers you receive from the representatives.
5. Ask for the university representative’s contact information in case you have follow-up questions later on.
-
If your professor is offering extra credit for attending the event, visit at least 3 university tables or attend one of the workshops. Write a 1 paragraph summary for each representative you met or presentation you visited/attended.
