What is the ECE Cohort?
The Early Childhood Education (ECE) Cohort Program is your gateway to a vibrant learning community designed exclusively for DVC students pursuing a certificate or degree in ECE.
Joining the ECE Cohort means embarking on a collaborative journey with fellow students where you'll work on the General Education requirements needed for the California Child Development Permit and the A.S. degree in Early Childhood Education as well as pre-transfer prerequisites.
Eligibility
DVC students enrolled in the ECE degree or certificate programs are eligible to join an ECE Cohort.
Cohort Perks
Cohorts are supported with funding from First 5 Contra Costa and provide free tuition, textbooks and tutoring support to students in designated "ECE Cohort" sections of Math and English.
Specialized advising, tutoring services and scholarship opportunities are also available for students enrolled in other ECE and general education courses.
How Do I Begin?
For more information about enrollment in the ECE Cohort Program contact Sue Handy, 925-969-2393 or email shandy@dvc.edu.
DVC prepared me very well to enter the ECE field. I learned how to craft lesson plans tailored to students’ interests. And I learned how development can vary greatly between each child. I also have a greater understanding of how a child’s success depends on the cooperation between parents, the school, and the child’s environment.
