What is Tembo* Leaders?


We know you've got the potential to be an incredible leader, and we're here to help you unleash it!

The Tembo learning community utilizes the latest research in Black male academic success and student support services to provide you with the tools you need to thrive. In a community with other African American men, Tembo provides you with a supportive environment to further develop your academic success and your leadership skills. Together we'll work to increase your self-knowledge, grow your confidence, and achieve abundance.

Tembo supports your entire self, addressing emotional, physical, spiritual, and mental well-being. 

Skill building includes:

  • leadership skills

Through Tembo, you will be encouraged to lead and serve by sharing Tembo with other African American peers and taking your skills into the world. 

*Tembo is a Swahili word that means elephant. African elephants are keystone species, meaning they play a critical role in their ecosystem. Also known as “ecosystem engineers,” elephants shape their habitat in many ways.
