Are you new to Canvas?
- Students can self-enroll in our training course, Canvas Expert Badge, for an overview of Canvas features, tips and tools.
- Employees can self-enroll in our training course, Beginner's Guide to Canvas, for an overview of how to set up a Canvas course.
- All Canvas users at DVC have access to Canvas 24/7 support. In Canvas, navigate to “Help” (the “?”) in the lefthand side global navigation menu and select "Chat with Canvas Support (Student)" or “Chat with Canvas Support (faculty)”.
Canvas Support for Students

- Log in to InSite and click the Canvas tile.
- Visit dvc.instructure.com and log in with your InSite username and password.
- Download the Canvas Student app for additional access.

- Courses are added via InSite and automatically populate on Canvas. Your course will automatically appear in Canvas on the first day of the term. Log in to Canvas on your course start date to begin!
- If you do not see your course, verify your enrollment on InSite, contact Admissions and Records, or directly contact your instructor.

- To request a chosen first name (in addition to your legal name) visit Admissions and Records forms to fill out a "Request for Chosen Name." Your username and email will not change. For further information visit the Technology Resources Hub to learn more.
- To designate a chosen name that only appears on Canvas discussion boards, messages, and comments, edit your "display name" in your Canvas settings.

Your Canvas username and password are the same as your InSite username and password. If you forgot your username/password, click "Look up username" or "Forgot password" on the InSite log in page.
