Tonette Steeb serves as the Director of Dental Hygiene. She has been an integral part of the Dental Hygiene Program since she began as an adjunct faculty member in 2003and has taught a a wide array of Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting courses. In 2019, Tonette took on the role of Department Chair of Dental Programs, where she supported both Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting students. As of January 2023, she has focused exclusively on the Dental Hygiene Program.
Tonette is an alumna of the DVC Dental Hygiene Program. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from California State University, Sacramento, and a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Education from St. Joseph’s College of Maine. Her master’s research project examined critical thinking skills among dental hygiene students at community colleges versus four-year universities.
Her professional affiliations include the American Dental Hygienists Association, the American Dental Educators Association, the California Dental Hygienists’ Educators Association, and the Oral Health Collaborative of Contra Costa County. Additionally, she serves as co-chair of the DVC Workforce Development Committee.
