Susan Lamb

President

Susan Lamb has worked in higher education for over 35 years. She has been the president of Diablo Valley College since 2018. During her tenure, she has led the college in critical conversations and planning related to race and equity, integrated planning with pathways, and facilities and construction.

From 2013-2017, Ms. Lamb served as the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and then the Interim Chancellor of City College of San Francisco (CCSF). At CCSF, she helped to shift the college’s accreditation status from Termination to full Reaffirmation of accreditation under the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges. As a result of this work, she received the Association of California Community College Administrator’s 2017 Leadership Award for Administrative Excellence.

Previously, Ms. Lamb served as the Vice President of Instruction and the Senior Dean of General Education and Transfer at Diablo Valley College. She got her start in the California community college system at Contra Costa College as a tenures faculty member, Academic Senate President, Division Chair, and Dean.

Ms. Lamb got her start in higher education as an instructor at Austin Community College in Austin, Texas. She also worked as a manager at Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Because she spent seven years working with individuals that had a broad spectrum of physical and mental disabilities, she is aware of many of the challenges and accessibility issues that these individuals face on a daily basis.

Susan holds a master's degree from Southwest Texas State University and has finished all but her dissertation in an Ed.D. at the University of San Francisco.
