Sarah Peterson is Diablo Valley College’s Academic/Student Services Manager of Early College Credit. This position supports a variety of programs that allow K12 students to earn college credit, including CCAP dual enrollment, concurrent enrollment, and high school articulation.
Sarah has worked at DVC since 2017, starting as an hourly employee in the Admissions & Records Office at the San Ramon Campus before becoming a full-time A&R Assistant in 2018. Over the next few years, Sarah assisted thousands of students through DVC’s registration, residency reclassification, and graduation processes. In 2022, Sarah became the Interim Program Coordinator of Student Engagement and Early College Experiences which supported the Diamante Scholars program and PUMA student leaders. These experiences have instilled in Sarah a passion for helping diverse students navigate the complexities of the community college system, connecting students to resources, and removing barriers to access. Sarah believes that participating in an early college credit program is one of the best ways to prepare students for college and career and strives to make these programs accessible to all students through equity-focused program design.
Sarah holds an MA in Communication and Leadership, a Certificate to Teach English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and a BA in English Language and Literature with minors in Music, Asian Studies, and Global Studies. In 2015, she was awarded a Chinese Government Scholarship and spent a year studying Mandarin Chinese at Fudan University in Shanghai. Sarah is a member of the California Alliance of Dual Enrollment Partnerships (CADEP) and is a Certified Dual Enrollment Leader through the California Coalition of Early and Middle Colleges (CCEMC.) In her spare time, she loves crafting, singing, cooking, playing videogames, and listening to audiobooks, particularly science fiction and fantasy.
