Matt Morrissey, a faculty member at Diablo Valley College, brings 30 years of law enforcement experience to his role. Over the course of his career, he has served as a patrol officer, detective, supervisor, and instructor, with extensive training and expertise in Criminal Investigations, Crime Scene Investigations, S.W.A.T., Community Policing, and Police Use of Force and Training.
With more than 25 years of experience as a trainer for basic police academy and advanced officer programs, Matt has taught a wide range of subjects, including Homicide, Criminal Investigation, Interview and Interrogation, Community Policing, Health and Fitness, Firearms, SWAT, Defensive Tactics, Impact Weapons, Force Options Simulator, and EVOC Driving and Driving Simulator. He has also contributed to the California Commission on P.O.S.T. Use of Force and Perishable Skills Committee.
Matt holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration/Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Administration of Justice, both from California State University, Hayward, as well as an Associate of Arts Degree in Administration of Justice from Diablo Valley College.
Outside of work, Matt enjoys physical fitness, traveling, wilderness exploration, outdoor recreation, and bicycling.
