Marina Varela

Marina Varela is a proud first-generation college student and Air Force dependent. After graduating high school, she began her academic journey at Diablo Valley College before transferring to New Mexico State University, where she earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees. Marina’s personal educational experiences have fueled her passion for serving the veteran community, both inside and outside the classroom. With a strong background in student services and equity work, she has spent the past year and a half focusing on creating a Student Veteran Resource Center that is welcoming, inclusive, and supportive for all military connected students on campus. Marina deeply understands the challenges faced by first-generation students, students of color, and veteran students in navigating higher education and is dedicated to breaking down barriers to their success.
