Prof. Covarrubias is a native of San Francisco who grew up in Hunter’s Point/Bayview district. He received an Associates of Art from City College of San Francisco, a Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering from San Jose State University and a Master's of Science in Electrical Engineering from California State University, Northridge. He has worked at Boeing and Intel where his work has been in the realm of developing RF/Microwave test systems for testing components on various products ranging from satellite transmitters to fiber optic communication systems to wireless LAN.
Most recently at Rose Electronics, he worked in the energy storage arena particularly in the development and design of smart Battery Pack Systems for Medical, GPS/Handheld, Instrumentation, Enterprise Servers and Military applications. Previous to DVC, he was an Adjunct Professor in the Engineering and Technology Department at CCSF teaching courses in Alternative Energy, Wireless Circuits, Practical Math and engineering.
He loves traveling internationally and learning the history of the area. He often spends his free time hanging out with his daughter.
