Beth M. Arman, Ph.D. is the Senior Dean of Career and Community Partnership. Beth is the head of the Workforce Development office, which works with DVC’s Career Education programs at both campuses, helping connect faculty and students to industry representatives who can provide curriculum input, in-kind resources, and internship/job opportunities. The Workforce Development office also writes and manages grants that support Career Education programs.
Beth serves on the Concord Chamber of Commerce board of directors, the Contra Costa County Adult Education Consortium steering committee, and the National Council for Workforce Education (NCWE) board of directors. She served as the NCWE president in 2021-22.
At DVC, she is particularly proud of her work establishing the CCAP STEM Academy, which enables Ygnacio Valley High School students in the Engineering Pathway to earn up to a year of college credit by the time they graduate from high school. Other accomplishments include leading the credit for prior learning initiative at the Community College of Baltimore County and creating the Construction Center of Excellence at Renton Technical College.
Beth has also been an English as a Second Language instructor, a job developer, and a program director for a labor organization. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, a master’s degree from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
In Fall 2024, she completed her goal of visiting all 50 states.
