Allan Lacayo is an accomplished professor of business administration and economics with over 30 years of experience in higher education. Since joining Diablo Valley College in 1997, he has been dedicated to helping students develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to achieve their academic goals, whether earning degrees, transferring to four-year institutions, completing certificates, or advancing their careers.
Throughout his career, Allan has taught a wide range of courses, including Business Statistics, Introduction to Business, Business Management, Investments, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Real Estate and Urban Economics, Financial and Managerial Accounting, Data Analytics for Economists, and Economic Analysis and Methods for Environmental and Natural Resources. In addition to his work at Diablo Valley College, he has lectured at institutions such as San Ramon Valley College, City College of San Francisco, UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, and Saint Mary’s College of Moraga.
Beyond academia, Allan served as the first Senior Economist for the City and County of San Francisco and as a building commissioner for the State of California. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in economics, as well as a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics, all from UC Berkeley.
Allan brings expertise in data analysis, economic modeling, and performance metrics, with proficiency in statistical software such as R, S, SAS, SPSS, and TSP. He has a strong background in integrating economic principles with policy development through his published white papers.
