Welcome to fall semester! We've got some fresh accessibility goals of the week to help you create a level learning space for all. Please remember you can always refer to the Goals of the Week Archive for more bite-sized support.
This week's goal involves two brief tasks (20 minutes) that will start your semester off with the tools you need to feel supported.
This new and fully updated self-paced course will teach you the fundamentals for ensuring your online content is accessible to all learners. 4 hours OAS payment is available for faculty who complete the full course (while funding lasts), or pick and choose specific modules based on your needs. Once you self-enroll, the course can live perpetually in your Canvas dashboard for quick access. Note: This course has replaced the original tutorials on the Online Accessibility at DVC website. Self-enroll in the course
Our 21/22 team of amazing Accessibility Ambassadors are your go-to contact for accessibility-related questions. You can sign up to meet with an Ambassador via the Digital Learning Lab, or email an Ambassador from the directory.
This week, take a few minutes to email an ambassador of your choice and introduce yourself (what you teach, any initial questions/concerns you have). Consider using the pre-assessment questions in the Accessibility Self-Assessment to help you reflect on what barriers may exist in your course. Running short on time? Just say hello! You may not have any pressing accessibility questions or concerns yet, but it's helpful to establish a connection early on and start the conversation.
Tasks completed? Congratulate yourself on reaching this week's goal. Your efforts
matter!
