Sunny Shergill – DVC drama graduate
Jan 17, 2017
“During my time at DVC, I discovered my passion for lighting design. I was allowed to “play” with state of the art lighting that a student at a UC or CSU wouldn’t be able to use until their third or fourth year. My mentors at DVC, Ken Hein and Scott Heiden shaped me into the professional technician I am today. Without the guidance of the Drama faculty I would not have pursued my passion of technical theater.
I now work full time at Clayton Valley Charter High School as an IT and Technical Theater Director. I also play many roles at various theaters around the Bay Area and was recently awarded a Shellie Design Award for lighting design.
When I first started at DVC, I didn’t expect to make so many lifelong friends. Going to a community college was the best life choice I made. DVC Drama truly shaped the person I am today, and words cannot express how thankful I am for that. Go Vikings!”
