Kevin Griffin UC Davis transfer student
Jan 2, 2017
For Kevin Griffin of San Leandro, Diablo Valley College is, and has been, the key to his future.
Griffin came to DVC from the Life Academy of Health and Bioscience, a small high school in Oakland. "My college experience at DVC has given me room and opportunity to expand my thirst for knowledge, bolster my academic skills, and develop my sense of identity within and outside of the academic community," he said.
Griffin will transfer to UC Davis in the fall of 2008, where he will continue his major in community/urban development, and will possibly add a double major in psychology to his studies. He aspires to engage in a fulfilling life of community service - "in exactly what capacity I will serve depends on the needs of the community that I choose to serve," he said, but added he is most interested in working with the elderly, youth, or other historically-underserved populations.
"The highlight of my DVC experience ironically has been my recent acceptance to UC Davis," Griffin said. "This is because I see this as a sweet reminder of how much of my academic success now and hopefully in the future can be attributed to my experience at DVC."
