Community of Pride at DVC
Welcome to the Community of Pride at Diablo Valley College where we have created a dynamic and inclusive environment specifically designed to support queer and trans students. At DVC, we understand the importance of finding a safe, supportive, and loving community on campus, and our Community of Pride is here to meet this essential need.

We are thrilled to announce new additions to our curriculum, starting in fall 2024:
- Intro to LGBTQ Studies General Education Course
- Certificate in LGBTQ Studies
- Associate Degree for Transfer in Social Justice with an Emphasis in LGBTQ Studies

Juneteenth observances at DVC
This month, we honor Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19, by reflecting on the historical and ongoing challenges faced by the Black community and recognizing their resilience and triumphs. At DVC, we are committed to celebrating efforts that promote equal opportunities for all.
JUNETEENTH: A Freedom Celebration

Join us for a vibrant celebration of Juneteenth, commemorating the freedom and cultural heritage of African Americans. This event promises an afternoon filled with joy, reflection, and community spirit. Come together with friends, faculty, staff and fellow community members to honor this significant day in history.

Join our thriving Umoja Community
DVC proudly supports a vibrant community of African American students through our Umoja program. Umoja, meaning "unity" in Swahili, is dedicated to the academic success, personal growth, and cultural empowerment of Black students.
Our Umojafied courses are designed with principles rooted in African traditions and practices. These courses are available in-person, online, and in hybrid formats, ensuring accessibility and flexibility for all students. Our instructors are not only trained in Umoja principles but are also passionate about fostering a supportive and enriching learning environment.
