On February 5 the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) notified DVC that our accreditation status is REAFFIRMED without any outstanding issues. This is the first time since 2006! Congratulations to all – and thanks to ALO, Ted Wieden.
The visiting team's report, our Follow-Up Report, and the action letter from the ACCJC are available on the DVC website accreditation pages. Thanks to everyone who participated in the preparation of the Follow-Up Report and in meetings with the visiting team.
DVC recently submitted to the Commission a list of new certificates and degrees that have been developed over the past two years. This spring the Accreditation Advisory Group will be reconvened to begin work on the Mid-Term Report, which will be due to the ACCJC on or before October 15, 2017.
The college continues to support the development and implementation of selected innovation activities designed to implement the Strategic Plan. There is a focus on initiatives with potential for institution-wide impact such as the First Year Experience, the student athlete support program, and the scheduling committee's discussions about pathways.
The SP workgroup is also working with College Council (CC) to develop a census of activities supporting student completion, persistence and success on pathways into the college, through the college, and out of the college.
A CC forum attended by over 70 faculty, staff and administrators considered a census of enrollment management activities largely focused on pathways into the college and priorities for further work suggested.
Finally, DVC will present lessons learned from the implementation of the Strategic Plan at the Academic Senate of California Community College’s annual conference on March 17 in Sacramento.
Governance meetings are open to all members of the campus community and all are encouraged to attend. For up-to-date information on governance and the various documents, please visit our new governance website.
