The Budget Committee met last Friday morning to go over the details of the current budget projections. Later that afternoon President Garcia and Chris Leivas, vice president of finance administration, held a campus forum to discuss the same information with a broader campus audience.
The 11-12 budget deficit is projected to be approximately $5.2 million.
The Budget Committee will know more by March 1, and will be able to fine tune their projections.
In addition to the college budget forum, the Classified Senate sponsored two meetings with the president, mostly on budget matters, to provide staff the opportunity to get honest and straightforward answers to some of their questions.
College Council would like to invite all faculty, staff and managers to attend a College Council meeting.
In the upcoming meeting they will decide on the College Council revised charge, discuss the Institutional Level Student Learning Outcome, the Budget Committee’s recommendation, and the Styrofoam resolution presented by ASDVC, Classified Senate, and Academic Senate.
This term the Council agenda will include completing the evaluation for all committees, and working on recommendations from the Integration Council for resource reallocation, as well as other items. All are welcome.
The co-chairs of IPC (Despina and Emily) began a dialogue with the leads of all nine college wide plans about how these plans will best serve the college. There was consensus to continue this dialogue with the goal to integrate college wide planning with the program review process, as well as to develop a through line for plan development, implementation, and evaluation. More information will be shared soon, through the colleges constituency groups.
The Integration Council is planning a discussion on the scheduling process and its relation to the college vision.
