SLO assessment schedule -- for the current academic year
Each year, the DVC faculty decide which courses they will assess in the following academic year. There are two kinds of schedules for tracking assessment commitments: "annual" and "semester". The annual schedule lists all courses, and indicates which are selected for assessment in 12/13. Use it to (1) change the selections for a division, department, or subject code, in accordance with the guidelines, and (2) indicate the semester(s) in which each selected course is to be assessed. Click HERE to see the 12/13 schedule for any division or instructional unit or discipline. The semester assessment schedule lists specific sections to be assessed. SLO assessment calendar -- planning for the future
Each discipline has committed to begin assessments on their courses in a specific calendar year, starting with 20% in 2009/2010, and adding another 20% per year until all courses have started assessment cycles over a 5-year ramp-up period. Click HERE to see the calendar for any division or instructional unit or discipline -- be sure to choose one in order to show the calendar. Note that the calendar also shows the dates for the next Title 5 rewrites to be completed per course. Data last updated May 15, 2013 1:29:28 PM. need changes? |

Course and program assessment history PDFs
For DVC faculty, there are printable assessment reports for each active DVC course, formatted in accordance with the familiar 5-column Nichols model. Access to them requires a network login account. They are also emailed to faculty at the start of every semester, for the classes they are scheduled to teach. They contain data for each completed assessment cycle, organized by assessment topic, in chronological order. Or for courses that have not yet been assessed, the current assessment topic statements are included. why? | where? |
At the beginning of an academic year, each faculty member should read the program assessment histories for the programs in their instructional units, and become aware of the action plans associated with the student learning outcomes at the program level. At the time a faculty member is assigned a course to teach, they should read the course assessment history for that course, whether or not that course is to be assessed during the semester. Assessment histories are stored on the U drive. u drive? |

Program assessment by alignment and mapping
Course/program alignment matrices. An "alignment matrix" for a program shows the SLOs for the program arranged vertically, and the required and optional courses arranged horizontally. At the intersection of each SLO and course, there is an "X" if that course's content directly supports that SLO. Click HERE to see a form that you can use to get the alignment matrix for any degree or certificate program. need changes? | how to assess a program? |

The SLO database -- the private side of SLOs
After all assessments are completed by departments, and action plans are devised, summaries are submitted by department faculty in order to document the process and to inform status reports and program review. Supporting evidence, including emails, meeting notes, and completed Excel tracking spreadsheets, are kept by the departments -- only summaries are reported for campus-wide access. Using SUBMIT ASSESSMENT RESULTS is the easy way to update SLO assessment topics, change a course's SLO assessment contact, and/or submit assessment results. Click HERE to use this online form. |
