DENTE-124 Introduction to Dental Morphology

Note: This course to be taken in the first term
Students taking this course will be introduced to the anatomy of the head and their various jaw movements. Individual teeth in the oral cavity, the Annotation System, tooth contours and morphologies, dental terminology and the various types of occlusions, such as Class I, II and Class III Malocclusions will be covered. Students will also learn how to produce clinically acceptable wax-ups in the maxillary and mandibular arch, as well as tooth surfaces and tooth composition. In addition, students will also learn Cusp to Fossae relationships, the mastication of food stuff and the Lost Wax technique, which involves spruing, wax patterns, investing patterns, casting patterns and metal finishing, and the polishing of various types of restorations for crown and bridge and ceramic restorations.
