| This 27-hour course will help students effectively prepare for their study abroad trip to Florence during the Spring 2007 semester or in future semesters. Students will learn how business, social, and dining etiquette in Italy differ from etiquette norms in the United States. In addition, through lectures, videos, field trips, and guest speakers, they will learn about historical milestones in Italy, common Italian language phrases, typical Italian foods, the Italian business environment and ways of doing business, basic Italian geography, economic issues in Italy, currency, and Italian art, music, and literature. Students will also learn how to effectively prepare for their trip abroad, how to use technology to communicate with family and friends while abroad, how to be a successful study abroad student, and how to get the most out of their study abroad experience.
