Art Mielke has taught philosophy (and psychology) at DVC for a number of semesters. He has taught at Syracuse University, Lees College, University of San Francisco, and Dominican University of California. He holds a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Bucknell University, an M.Div. from Yale University, an M.A. in counseling psychology from Lewis and Clark College, and M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in religion from Syracuse University, where his dissertation was on Christianity, feminism, and pornography. He has also studied New Testament and Christian Doctrine at Oxford University. At DVC, Mielke has taught critical thinking, introduction to philosophy, philosophy of religion, and comparative religion. He loves the challenge of the classroom and tells any students who will listen that they have a terrific opportunity at DVC to get started on an educational journey that will last a lifetime!
