What is the photovoltaic systems program?
Photovoltaic systems take light and convert it to electricity using solar panels, and are one part of an emerging market in the growing field of alternate energy technologies. The photovoltaic systems program at Diablo Valley College prepares students for jobs such as photovoltaic systems installers, designers and sales people.
Students will gain both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in areas related to construction and energy.
Students will learn about:
Students will be required to have the physical ability to climb ladders, work on steep roofs, lift 50 pounds, and work in crawl spaces and tight areas.
Why study photovoltaic systems?
As oil becomes ever more expensive, the push for alternative energy sources will continue to grow. DVC itself is already participating in this area with solar panels that were installed in the parking lots on campus. Jobs already exist in this growing field, and the field will provide many opportunities for employment.
