Explores the basic components of the Word 2007 interface (screen). We will also cover how to create, save, and close a basic document. This workshop is meant for those new to using Word 2007.

This workshop covers how to move around a document with the keyboard and mouse, change the appearance and location of text (i.e. line spacing, alignment, copying, cutting, pasting), adjust page margins, and insert a header/footer.

This workshop covers basic editing tools (using find/replace, spelling & grammar check), printing, and inserting a basic table into your document.

Creating tables & charts in Word 2007

This workshop covers how to create a basic table within a Word document, as well as how to adjust the table formatting and design, and using formulas. We will also cover how to insert different types of charts into your document.

Working with graphics in Word 2007

This workshop covers how to insert and manipulate all types of graphics in a Word document, specifically ClipArt, WordArt, saved pictures, shapes, text boxes, decorative borders, and diagrams.

Advanced formatting in Word 2007

This workshop covers sharing text between documents, translating text, using the built-in thesaurus, adding comments to a document, adding page numbers, adding footnotes, applying paragraph borders, inserting page breaks, tracking document changes, and inserting headers and footers, among other skills.

 Kurzweil 3000, #1

This is a text-to-speech software program that allows you to hear text aloud as you read it. This workshop will introduce the main toolbar functions, how to use the reading tools, how to insert digital bookmarks, and how to digitally highlight text.

This workshop covers Kurzweil 3000's digital note-taking tools, as well as its writing and proofreading features.

This is a fun, interactive software program that creates visual mindmaps to facilitate the brainstorming and writing process. It also allows you to convert your mindmap into a traditional outline with the click of a button.

 

Excel 2007 Basics, #1

Excel creates databases, which can be manipulated in a variety of ways. This workshop will cover the basic components of the Excel 2007 interface (screen). We will also cover how to create a simple spreadsheet, using basic formulas, and basic spreadsheet formatting.

 

Excel 2007 Basics, #2

Excel creates databases, which can be manipulated in a variety of ways. This workshop covers more advanced spreadsheet formatting, including inserting charts and other graphics. We will also cover how to perform a data filter, and how to transfer data from Excel into other Microsoft applications.

PowerPoint 2007 Basics, #1

PowerPoint creates powerful visual presentations (like digital slideshows). This workshop will cover the basic components of the PowerPoint 2007 interface (screen). We will also cover basic slide creation, including adding text, images, and adding slides to the sequence.

PowerPoint creates powerful visual presentations (like digital slideshows). This workshop will cover more advanced slide formatting, such as creating different layouts, adding charts and graphs, etc. We will also explore different slide transitions and animation schemes.

 

Dragon NaturallySpeaking, #1

This is a speech recognition program in which the computer types what the user says into a microphone. This workshop will demonstrate how to make a basic voice file, basic dictation, and basic editing.

Note: While this workshop is for demonstration purposes only, participants can schedule an additional one-on-one lab appointment to create their own voice file and practice the skills learned.

This workshop will cover more advanced voice-based editing tools, vocabulary options, and using dictation for computer commands.
