Spring 2010 schedule - pdf
From the Director:
Emeritus College will experience many changes in 2010, with the closure of the Walnut Creek Center on Arroyo Way. The Emeritus office is now located on the DVC campus, Faculty Office Annex South, off Viking Dr., at parking Lot #3. We are in the brown trailer closest to the parking lot.
The WCCenter closure has not diminished our program as many feared. We are offering 69 classes and events this spring. John F. Kennedy University, PH and Rossmoor, WC deserve our thanks for providing additional classrooms. We have scheduled weekend classes on the DVC campus when parking permits are not required and the parking is easy.
The 15-day Emeritus trip to Turkey has been scheduled for May 1-15. There will be a maximum of 18 of us traveling together. There are still a few spots available. We have added a Cruise from Vienna to Amsterdam on a 120-person riverboat for June 12-27. These are fundraisers for Emeritus College.
We netted over $6200 from the White Elephant sale, which will be used to defray expenses and to help grow the program. Lucia Falcone, the event chair deserves a medal for her many volunteer hours.
Special events require many volunteers. If you are able to contribute a few hours once or twice a year, please call our new DVC number 925-685-1230 ext. 2388. We will be in the office regularly beginning January 10.
Happy New Year from Marianna (she has planned some exciting new tours and reserved many additional discounted theater tickets), Anthony (yes, our student assistant will be moving with us), the Emeritus College Advisory Board (all hard-working volunteers), and me (no one is quite sure what I do - some believe I am here for comic relief).
Jo Mele, Emeritus College Executive Director
